The Artistic Journey of Krupa Bhaskar

Architectural Designer by Education, Artist by Passion

Art, for me, is more than just a craft—it’s a harmonious blend of inspiration drawn from the beauty of nature and the richness of culture. My journey began at the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, School of Planning & Architecture, Hyderabad, where my education in Architectural Design cultivated a deep appreciation for form, structure, and the stories embedded in design. It all began during my graduation days with a simple idea: I wanted to create something unique as a wedding gift. Instead of opting for a store-bought present, I decided to carve something entirely my own—a handmade token of creativity and effort.

Little did I know, that decision would lay the foundation for a lifelong journey. When I framed my first piece and took it to the frame shop, the owner was so intrigued that he became my first client, commissioning work for himself. This small yet significant moment inspired me to explore carving further and take on more projects.

Turning Passion into Profession

What began as a heartfelt experiment soon turned into a growing profession. I started accepting commission orders from friends, family, and acquaintances, each project pushing me to improve my skills. During this time, I also collaborated with gifting companies to create unique, personalized carvings—names, initials, and intricate designs—that resonated deeply with their clients.

The best part? I was still in college, balancing studies with the thrill of pursuing something I loved. My work wasn’t just a side hustle; it was a source of immense joy, a space where I could explore my creativity and connect with people through my art.

The Joy of Carving

Since those early days, carving has been a constant source of fulfillment. Each piece I create tells its own story, shaped by countless hours of patience, precision, and passion. From tiny pencil-tip sculptures to intricate personalized carvings, every project is a reflection of my journey—one that started with a simple idea and has grown into a celebration of art and creativity.

This joyous ride has taken me from experimenting in college to preparing for exhibitions in global cities like Dubai. And while my techniques and ambitions have evolved, the heart of my work remains the same: to create something extraordinary from the ordinary, and to bring a little wonder into the world, one carving at a time.

Palm of Creation

As I create, the remnants of my process become visible — my hand, blackened with graphite, becomes a canvas in itself. Each speck of graphite powder on my fingers is a testament to the labor of love behind the magnificent miniature sculptures I carve.

These marks aren’t just stains; they’re symbols of the connection between my tools and my imagination. The contrast of the dark powder against my skin reminds me of the transformation I bring to life — from the raw, untouched pencil tip to a piece of art that tells a story.

This image captures not just my hand but the essence of my craft — the dedication, the hours of careful carving, and the joy of seeing my vision come to life.
